Special Programs
Information and
Communications Technology
Our school has a Coordinator of ICT,
Colin Luscombe. Our students use
computers to enhance their learning through integration by teachers into the
classroom program. We have an Intranet in our school for display of
publications by students and teachers, easy access to web resources and the
use of the MyInternet desktop which provides web tools for staff and
students, including email. All Staff and students from years 3-7 have their
own email address while R-2 classes have a class email address. Filters of
inappropriate web sites are controlled externally through filters provided
for all DECS schools. We are also able to filter sites ourselves if
required. |
 |
| The school also has an
Extranet which is accessible from outside
the school. This is password protected. Students have their own username and
password and there is also a username and password for parents. This has
been communicated through classrooms. Members of our school community can
visit our Extranet via the link on the Home page or
Pictorial records of class and school activities, student electronic
portfolios, teacher pages, units of work and web resources are featured. |

We have at present 80 curriculum machines around the school in a Computer
Room, pods of up to 5 computers and a computer in each classroom.
Our Laptop Project using ten wireless
networked laptop computers started in Term 1 2004. Another five were
purchased in Term 4 following an evaluation of the project. When the
planned school upgrade takes place in 2004, the number of network
connections available will increase considerably enabling us to create new
and larger pods in areas designed for this purpose and to set up wireless
access points.
Our students are required to abide by an Acceptable User Agreement for use
of computers. There are consequences for failing to keep this agreement
including removal of network and Internet rights. |

Music
All students receive specialist music lessons from teacher David Jackson.
david is also Deputy Conductor of the South Australian Public Schools Music
Festival.
The students engage in music through singing, music games and movement. They
listen to a variety of music styles and the teaching of basic notation is
also a focus. The Lighting Up the Arts Concert held annually
is a celebration of our music education program.
The school is involved in the SA Public Schools Music Festival, and there is
an award winning band run by a visiting teacher. See the Band |
